Iowa Telecom Phishing Scam: “support@iowatelecom.net”

Iowa Telecom has received reports of a phishing email scam that targets Iowa Telecom users. This is a fake email and is not sent from, or in any way associated with, Iowa Telecom. The actual phishing email is displayed below. For more information on this type of scam mail please see Phishing 101. DO NOT respond to this email with any information.

If you have responded to this email:

1. Call Iowa Telecom technical support to have your password changed. It is very important that your new password does not resemble the old password at all. The closer the new password is to the old password, the more likely they will be able to guess your new one.

2. If you see more email like this, please feel free to send them to us, we will add them to this list to warn other customers.

Tip of the Day

Giving out personal information via e-mail is kind of like stapling your car payment (In Cash) to the outside of the envelope and then mailing it. Chances are better than slim it will be stolen.
