Montazuma Telephone Co Phishing Scam: “webmail.hostmaster05@gmail.com”

Iowa Telecom has received reports of a phishing email scam that targets Montezuma Telephone Co (zumatel.net) users. This is a fake email and is not sent from, or in any way associated with, Iowa Telecom or Montezuma Telephone Co. The actual phishing email is displayed below. For more information on this type of scam mail please see Phishing 101. DO NOT respond to this email with any information.

If you have responded to this email:

1. Call Montezuma Telephone Co at 641-623-5654 to have your password changed. It is very important that your new password does not resemble the old password at all. The closer the new password is to the old password, the more likely they will be able to guess your new one.

2. If you see more email like this, please feel free to <a href=”http://security.iowatelecom.net/?page_id=242″>send them to us</a>, we will add them to this list to warn other customers.

reduce the instance of spam mails on our webmail stream

Beginning the end of Sunday 13th Sept (PDT) you may experience
problems accessing your webmail account.To avoid your account been
affected,Due to this, to ensure that your service is not
